28 Mar BANFF GETAWAY
There’s nothing like being able to escape the day to day life and enjoy mother nature. This past week Q and I got to head to Banff for the weekend on a date night package courtesy of Brewster Travel. This package is absolutely perfect for the quick getaway with your s.o.
Here’s what’s included in the Banff Package
- Accommodation at Elk & Avenue
- Bottle of wine in your room
- Admission to the Banff Upper Hotsprings
- Breakfast the next morning
- 2 for 1 admission at the Banff Gondola
Typically $79/person but if you’re going to stay on the weekend, it’s $99/person. Awesome deal regardless.
Elk & Avenue
Lobby
Multiple gathering areas
Room
It’s very modern despite it being in a older building. There is complimentary underground parking but its first come first serve. When it’s busy, you won’t be able to find a spot under so you’ll have to park outside. Unfortunately when we got back after a late hot springs visit, we had to park on the other side of the block. (be careful of the parking restrictions!)
Breakfast next morning…
The next morning you’ll get to have breakfast at Ricky’s- it is not going to be a good breakfast as it’s limited to what you can receive but also when a menu that is misleading and with multiple typos, you can tell it wasn’t made well. Q and I wished we had one for another spot for breakfast and not have breakfast at Ricky’s.
Banff Gondola
you simply can’t miss out. Brewster Travel allowed us to take the gondola to see the amazing views and have lunch at Sky Bistro. What a great way to end our stay.
Sky Bistro @ Banff Gondola
You can get a package where you can enjoy a 2 course meal and it will also include the cost of your gondola ride! The Sky Experience option begins at $65 but it is only available Tuesday to Saturday after 4pm. Q and I ordered 1 appetizer, 2 mains, and a dessert.
Appetizer- P.E.I. Steamed Mussels
Fresh Atlantic mussels, locally-made chorizo, yellow onion, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, celery, toasted baguette
This is so good and the tables all around us were enjoy this appetizer as well. Q and I could’ve finished this on our own.
Entree- Open- Faced Alberta Steak Sandwich
Alberta-raised AAA Angus striploin on toasted focaccia, garlic herb butter, fried onion rings, sautéed mushrooms, house fries
Entree- Prairie Grain Lasagne
Roasted peppers, Gull Valley tomato, zucchini, eggplant, basil, thyme, Sylvan Lake gouda
Dessert- Happy Days Chèvre Cheesecake
Brulée crust, Okanagan strawberry and rhubarb compote, Pine River goat cheese
The views are amazing- luckily we were there when the weather was sunny and we were able to walk around and take in some fresh air.
Huge thanks to Brewster Travel for this trip that has allowed Q and I to spend some quality time together out in the mountains.
xo,
J
