18 Feb PARALLEL BLOC BY TRICO HOMES

Happy New Year! What a year it has been and definitely haven’t been on here as often as I’d like but it’ll be a goal to do more blog posts this year! We are excited to feature Parallel Bloc by Trico Homes. (Fun fact- my current home is by Trico Homes and they’ve built over 10,000 homes in the Calgary area since 1992!)
My boyfriend and I had been creeping the real estate market lately as we’re curious to see what’s available, and to be honest, there isn’t a whole lot for a new home with value and something that is of quality. There’s definitely single-detached homes out there that are of great craftsmanship and quality, but when we’re looking at townhomes, it’s very few to none.
We had been looking at what we’d want in our dream home- what kind of appliances we’d want, what colour palette, and what kind of look and feel. If you know me, I love clean, simplistic, a bit of colour (not overly), but something that is minimalist. When we look at what we have in my current Trico Home, we were able to decide how it functions in our life. We were able to choose the colour palette that suit our style best, and essentially, you want to pick something that best suits your lifestyle and probably something you don’t switch up often, if you’re like me.
The pandemic has really made G realize how a 1 bdr + den condo is very small when we’re spending so much time at home so when we get a place together it’d have to be a duplex or townhome so that we have enough space to do workouts at home, space for the dog, space for two home offices, and a nice kitchen (my favourite part).
Coincidentally while we’ve been seeing what’s new in the market, Trico reached out about Parallel Bloc! We love seeing showhomes and interior design to help drive inspiration to what our goals in life are.
Parallel Bloc is situated in Crestmont West, with nearby Save-On Foods, Winsport, upcoming Calgary Farmers Market, and lots of green space. It’s the perfect location if you frequent the Rockies often as well as downtown. We happened to drive by Crestmont West again the following day we went on the way to Canmore and realized how we could’ve saved 15-20 minutes of our morning commute if we were in Crestmont West. It’s placed in a sweet spot that it only takes a few turns then you’re onto the highway to the mountains.
Why Parallel Bloc? Parallel Bloc is affordable, and their townhomes are well-designed that checks off all the boxes on your home. Trico Homes features open concept townhomes with 2, 3 & 4 bedroom layouts, starting from the mid $300’s.
These townhomes stood out with their attached double car garages and retreat spaces in the master bedroom. They offer 3 different design colour packages and options to upgrade as well. Each of the townhomes feature luxury finishes even in their standard packages like luxury vinyl plank flooring, stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops. One of the best parts about Parallel Bloc is the maintenance free lifestyle (snow
removal, lawn care and all exterior upkeep taken care of by a professional management company), included with your condo fees.
My personal favourite is the Summit End Unit- the clean, bright colour palette is down my alley. G and I both love a white kitchen with built-in appliances to keep things minimal. It gives the right amount of space to really ‘live’ in. When we first saw the Summit End Unit, G said right away “oh this is very you”.
To give you an idea of where Parallel Bloc is located to some popular destinations:
Direct access to Highway 1 that will take you to the mountains in under an hour
10-minute drive to Canada Olympic Park
10-minute drive to the future Calgary Farmers’ Market West
15-minute drive to West 85th (restaurants, services & grocery stores)
15-minute drive to Market Mall, Foothills Hospital & the University of Calgary
20-minute drive to downtown Calgary
Here are two of the townhomes:
Summit End Unit – 1548 sq. ft. with 2 bedrooms & 2.5 bathrooms
Developed Walkout Basement with a home office + flex room
Feature Fireplace in the Great Room

We love how open the space is that really separated each area of its own. The one thing we do notice about Trico Homes is that all their homes have large windows, it’s such a huge bonus and makes an incredible amount of difference to get as much natural sunlight as possible.

One of the features we liked about the Summit End was the area designated below where you can store your coats, shoes, and act as a landing zone.

The bedrooms in this townhome is absolutely spacious. You have an area that you can unwind, and space for your bed. For a townhome, this is great to be able to have this amount of space. Both bedrooms have a walk-closet and ensuite.

As we’ve been working from home, a home office has been top of list for both of us. We had always known we need a space at home to do things if we need to work from home but to have 2, this townhome would make it happen. There’s a room that can act as an office and the flex room is up to how you see it! The showhome created the flex room into a home theatre (amazing!) or we would have created another office if it was our own.

Summit Middle Unit– 1528 sq. ft. with 3 bedrooms & 2.5 bathrooms
Spacious Balcony off the Great Room
3-Piece Ensuite + Large Walk-in Closet in the Master Bedroom
This townhome reminds me of a great home for a small family. You have 3 bedrooms within a townhome which gives you enough privacy when you need in this space.

The master bedroom had an ensuite and walk-in closet (as you can see from below). While we’ve seen in other new builds, there’s a massive washroom with almost too much empty space, this is practical. You have just enough space.

The other two rooms are a bit smaller of course given that there’s 3 bedrooms in this townhome instead of 2. But if you have young kids or if you want to use these rooms as an office, they give you just enough space! Again, large windows is a plus – you don’t want to miss out on the views of the foothills.

Hope you enjoyed this preview of Parallel Bloc and a slight life update! We definitely got more inspiration and ideas on how we would want our future home to look like after seeing these two showhomes.
